WE ARE LOOKING FOR RECIPES FROM AROUND THE WORLD

Karyn Romeis has had a wonderful idea. She wants to compile a book of around 100 recipes which will feature dishes from the wide range of cultures represented in the church.  Because everyone is feeling the pinch, it will major on tasty, nutritious meals on a budget.

The plan is to have it ready to use as Christmas gifts.  We expect it to cost around £5 a copy and all profit will go to Kings Pantry.

Please get your favourite recipes to Karyn BY TOMORROW AT THE LATEST and let her know how many copies you are likely to buy so that she can order a suitable print run.

You can email Karyn on romeisfamily4@yahoo.co.uk

THE NATIVITY STORY

This is a great opportunity to invite friends and family to church in an informal setting.

There will be a short animated film before the main event.  It is about a young boy’s search for the true meaning of Christmas.  It’s very humorous and thought provoking and it has had some great reviews.  The main film should end by

TWO PORK CHOPS

We have been given lots of copies of a paperback book entitled Two Pork Chops by John Masters.  It’s an easy read, quite humorous, and is all about miracles.  We are giving them away free to anyone who will give them to friends and family and use them as an evangelistic tool.  Perhaps a nice little stocking filler?  Please see Jim and Mary

DID YOU KNOW?

This Christmas, the Post Office is going to issue both secular stamps and religious stamps, but you have to stipulate if you want religious stamps or they will just sell you the pantomime ones.  We understand each Post Office has been asked to send in to HQ the totals for each (possibly to say there is no demand for the religious ones!)  Let’s all try and keep Jesus at the centre of the event.

BIBLE READING NOTES

If you use (or are interested in using) Bible reading notes, Steve Starling has some sample copies for you to see.  These can be very good helps in understanding the Bible more so please see Steve.

LADIES

Are you able to help out on the crèche rota?

You will work as part of a team and only need to go out for the preach time.  At the moment the teams go out once a month, but the more people there are the less often they need to go out.

Please see Rose Taylor for more information

WORLD VISION has asked for our help.

Firstly, they are recruiting volunteers to speak in schools.  Volunteers would be asked to conduct a maximum of six visits per year and would be sharing about World Vision’s work, global poverty issues and how schools can get involved.  Full training will be given and expenses reimbursed.

Secondly, they would like to raise the awareness of any teachers in the church about the programme they offer.  They deliver global education, free of charge, through two visits by an outside speaker and an associated free resource.

Anyone interested in either of these opportunities, please email Allison Highton of the Youth Engagement team at Allison.Highton@worldvision.org.uk.  Or call on 01908 244441 between Monday and Wednesday.

KINGS’ PANTRY

We will soon be making up Christmas hampers for needy families, so if you could think about donating some nice seasonal ‘special’ items it would be so much appreciated.

Please place your items in the cupboard in the foyer next to the kitchen door.  For further information, please contact Del and Bonnie and all donations will be gratefully received.

Thank you so much.
